What the percentage on your profile means, and what changes it.
For: Guests, Hosts
The shield badge shows, as a percentage, how often someone keeps the spots they take. It appears on your profile, on public profiles and next to guests on an event page, as soon as there is one past event to count. Until there are 3, it shows no percentage: it reads New if every spot was kept, or how many were, like "1 of 2 kept".
How it's calculatedEvery spot you held ends one of three ways: completed, a late leave or a no-show. The percentage is your completed spots divided by the total. Hosting is never part of it: a host holds no spot, so the events you host are not counted. Tap the badge to see the counts in Attendance reliability.
Completed: you had a spot when the event ended. It is counted automatically, unless a host marks you absent.
Late leave: you gave up your spot before the start, after holding it for at least 24 hours. Leaving from the waitlist, or within 24 hours of getting a spot, doesn't count. Neither does leaving within 48 hours after the host moves the start time, if you already had your spot before the move.
No-show: a host marked you Absent, or you left after the event started without any host having marked you Arrived. If you're about to leave an event that has started, or to give up a spot you've held for 24 hours or more before it starts, the app asks you to confirm. It doesn't ask this before the start in the 48 hours after the host moves the start time, for a spot you already held.
A spot you got from the waitlist is yours to give back: leaving it is never a late leave or a no-show, before or after the start. If you got it less than 3 hours before the start, or after it began, even a host marking you Absent doesn't count.
Sometimes a spot is given up without you doing it: when a host blocks you from their events, or when an account can no longer use Party Up, its spots in upcoming events are released. That never counts as a late leave or a no-show, the next person on the waitlist gets the spot as usual, and the spots are not given back later.
Tip
Changed your mind? Taking your spot back removes a late leave, or a no-show you caused by leaving. It doesn't remove an absence a host marked.
See your badge on your profile.
On the event page you can mark each guest Arrived, Absent or Not marked, from the start until 48 hours after the end. If you mark nobody, everyone who had a spot counts as completed. After the event ends, you get a reminder if nobody has been marked yet.
A guest you mark absent is told about 10 minutes later, so you can fix a mistake before they hear about it. Setting them back to Arrived or Not marked removes the no-show.
Tip
If a host deletes their account, only the events left with no other host are removed, and everyone's percentage is recalculated without them. An event another host keeps counts as it did before.
