Set how many people can come, offer choices, and let the waitlist fill freed spots.
For: Hosts
When you create an event, Max participants sets how many spots it has. Leave it blank for unlimited spots and no waitlist.
1.
Open the event form and set Max participants.
2.
In a new event, turn on Advanced options to show the options and Share per person. When you edit an event they are always shown.
3.
To offer choices such as a menu or a ticket type, use Add option under Options. Each option has its own name and limit.
4.
Turn on Options only (no plain YES) if everyone must pick an option. Then every option needs a limit.
Tip
Share per person is shown to guests as a guide only. Party Up takes no payments; you collect the money yourself.
When every spot is taken, guests see Join the line instead of I'm in and are told their place in line. Spots held by private invites count as taken.
When someone leaves, the first people in line who fit move in automatically and get an alert that they have a spot, even during their quiet hours. The same happens when you raise the limit or a private invite expires unused. Hosts are never counted in the spots and can't take one, so when a guest becomes a host their spot is released and the line moves up the same way.
When someone joins or leaves, you get an alert that names them and says how full the event is, like "Marco joined · 9/10, 1 spot left". If several people join or leave within about half a minute of each other, one alert covers them all. When a spot someone gives up goes to the next person in line, the same alert says who got it, like "Marco dropped out · 10/10, 2 on the waitlist · Anna moved up from the waitlist".
Tip
Changing the time, place or share per person tells everyone who said yes, waitlist included, in one alert a couple of minutes later. For 48 hours after you move the start time, guests who already had a spot can give it up without it counting against their reliability.
On an event you host, open More and tap Duplicate. A new event opens with the same details, options and share per person. Guests, invites, chat and reviews stay with the original event. If its date has passed, the copy moves to the next date on the same day of the week, at the same time, so a Thursday game stays on a Thursday. Once an event is over, Run it again on its page does the same in one tap.
Cancel an eventUntil it starts, open More and tap Cancel event. Before you confirm you can pick one reason, such as Weather or Not enough people; it is optional. Everyone who said yes, waitlist included, gets an alert that names the reason if you picked one, and the event chat is deleted.
The event page stays for 30 days and shows that it was cancelled, with its date and the reason if there is one. You stay on it after cancelling. Guests get Find other events; you also get Duplicate, to set it up again on a new date.
