Pick a video game or type a board game, and share a join link only confirmed guests can open.
For: Hosts, Guests
An event can say which game it is about. In Video games you pick the game from a catalogue; in Tabletop games you type its name. Any event that is Online can also carry a join link.
A video game night1.
Create an event and choose the category Video games.
2.
Under Game, search for the game and pick it. The list shows Data from IGDB.
3.
If the game isn't in the catalogue, use the name you typed instead.
When the event has no picture of its own, the game's cover becomes its picture, on the event page and on the cards. If the game is on Steam, the event page shows View on Steam, and in a computer's browser also Launch on Steam.
1.
Choose the category Tabletop games and type the game, for example Werewolf, under Game.
2.
Choose Online as the type.
3.
Paste your Discord invite under Join link. Only links that start with https:// are accepted.
Hosts always see the link. Confirmed guests see it from 24 hours before the start until the event ends, as a Join on Discord button for a Discord invite. People on the waitlist and everyone else see Link visible to confirmed guests instead. Group posts in Telegram never include it.
Tip
The link is deleted together with the exact address, 30 days after the event ends. If you change the link, guests with a spot or on the waitlist get an update, according to their notification settings.
If you linked Steam and the game is on Steam, the event page asks Steam about that one game: In your Steam library, or Not found in your Steam library. Not found doesn't always mean you don't have it: a free game you never played, or one borrowed through Steam Family Sharing, isn't listed. Either way you can still join: when the game isn't found, a note under the buttons to join says so.
If your Steam game details are private, the page says so instead. To make them public, open your profile on Steam, choose Edit Profile, then Privacy Settings, and set Game details to Public. The page notices within an hour. Without Steam linked, Link Steam to check opens Settings.
Once at least three guests are confirmed, hosts see how many of them have the game on Steam, like "3 of 5 confirmed guests have it on Steam". The count never names anyone, but "5 of 5" says that all of them have it, "0 of 5" that none of them is known to, and comparing counts over time can hint at whether a guest who just joined has it. To blunt that, the count is refreshed at most every few hours, so it can lag behind the guest list; an incomplete count can update sooner. Guests who turned the check off are still counted among the confirmed guests. The count goes away when the event ends or is cancelled. A count that starts with "At least" is incomplete: with many guests, or when Steam is slow or fails, some answers are missing.
